I have an euro5 Caballero 500 Rally.
Already did 6000km.
Very happy with it, it is the kind of bike I always wanted. Enough power for traveling, great handling, great brakes, great suspension that can handle harsh conditions, lightweight enough to grab it and turn it around if I get stuck somewhere.
My observations:
- The engine tends to get quite hot if going too slow or spend a lot of time idling. I would recommend using 15w50 synthetic oil in it and change the oil more frequently then what's recommend in the manual ( I am doing it every 3000km). It's an euro5, so the engine is running lean. And also, don't forget to check the valve clearance as recommended in the manual.
- A 6 pin to OBD adapter, a bluetooth OBD and phone app ( I like the Torque app ) are handy tools to diagnose problems.
- I had a temperature sensor installed in the engine's head, and an oil pressure sensor installed in the filter housing.
- Regarding the headlight connector, I would recommend sealing the exterior cable fittings with something like hot glue, and putting some silicone grease inside that connector, as it is not waterproof.
- Had to disassemble the front headlight because of a loose inner led lens ( tolerance issue? ). Easy fix, just put some insulating tape inside the lens socket, insert the lens, and it will be firmly held in place. In doubt, remove the headlight from the support, and shake it to see if you hear something loose inside.
- One of the band metal gear clamp that holds the rear shock adjuster broke on mine, keep an eye on that if you do a lot of bumpy roads. Easy fix, you can get one of those in any hardware store.
- Make sure the cooling tank breathing hose is not in touch or too close with the exhaust, mine melted a bit and I had to be replaced, it was better relocated and secured with a zip tie not to get too close to the exhaust again.
- I changed the stock Torch spark plug to an NGK ER9EHIX spark plug. Still testing that, doesn't seem to make any noticeable difference ( but haven't tested it properly yet ). I read somewhere that the stock spark plug should be replaced with a better one ( and I was bored ). If you do that, make sure the spark gap is between the recommended values before inserting it ( 0.7-0.8mm ).
- Make sure no electrical harness parts are touching any hot parts of the engine. There was also a green 6 pin block connector ( where you can put a gear indicator ) near the engine top which was hanging loose in mine, I put a dummy cap in it and secured it with a zip tie.
- There is a 2-pin white connector near the ABS module that's not connected to anything, if I understood correctly, it seems to be used to configure some kind of setting in the ABS module ( in the Rally it will be disconnected, in other models the pins may be shunted ). Just secured it with a zip tie as well and covered it with a rubber cap.
- If you care about that, be careful when filling up the tank, as fuel seems to cause some staining in the plastic tank cover.
